DE State Police Warns People About Phone Scam

(Dover, DE)  --  The Delaware State Police are warning people about a phone scam.  Police say a resident in Kent County received a call from someone who claimed to be with Verizon Wireless.  The caller told victim they were switching from 4G to 5G and that he needed to reset his account.  After the victim gave his information, the scammer was able to order an iPad with his information.  Authorities say people should always be wary of callers who ask for basic information.  They're also advising people to take extra precautions to protect themselves.
