An Oklahoma police officer is in custody after being accused of killing the chief of his department while the two were attending a law enforcement conference in Florida. 49-year-old Michael Nealey was booked into Escambia County Jail in Pensacola on suspicion of murder, after authorities discovered the body of Mannford Police Chief Lucky Miller on Sunday (November 10) night.
The two men reportedly got into a fight at the Hilton Inn on Pensacola Beach, and Miller died from his injuries. Authorities did not disclose what the two men were fighting about or the injuries that Miller suffered.
“We are heartbroken by the news,” Mannford Mayor Tyler Buttram said in a statement. “Please keep both families in your prayers as we work to move forward.”
Miller, 44, had been chief since 2007. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
