Police: Woman Posed as Baby Photographer, Drugged Woman to Steal Newborn

A woman who posed as a baby photographer has been arrested after she was accused of an elaborate plot to drug her victims and steal an infant newborn to raise as her own, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Police began an investigation on Feb. 5 after a woman called 911 to report that she believed she had been drugged, after she began feeling numb, drowsy, and vomited. After being treated at a local hospital, the victim contacted police and told them she believed that she'd been drugged by a woman who'd come to her house posing as a photographer to take photos of her baby.

The victim told police she met the suspect through a newborn baby group on Facebook where the woman had been advertising her photography business and offering to take free photos for new moms to help build her portfolio.

"The suspect reportedly came to the victim’s residence on three occasions to photograph her newborn baby," the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said in a statement. "The suspect was observed taking cell phone selfies with the victim’s baby and was seen wiping her fingerprints off items she touched inside the victim’s home. During the third incident, the suspect and the suspect’s teenage daughter gave the victim a cupcake to eat; the victim reported feeling numb and drowsy immediately after eating the cupcake. The victim told the suspect and her daughter to leave her home. After they left, the victim noticed that the suspect had stolen her house keys."

The woman asked the suspect and her daughter to leave after she began feeling numb and drowsy after eating the cupcake.

"When the whole thing unraveled her house keys were missing, she remembers her wiping prints down in the kitchen," Detective Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department told KING-TV. "We were able to find through search warrants and communication through social media and texts a plot we put together that obviously shows she was attempting to find an infant to take out of state and raise as her own."

The 38-year-old suspect was arrested at her home in Graham, on Friday on multiple felony charges. Her 16-year-old daughter was also arrested by police because she was the one who'd given the victim the cupcake.

Police say the suspect has multiple alias and was involved in a bomb-making situation two years ago. She was booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges of assault and attempted kidnapping. The 16-year-old was booked into the Remann Hall Pierce County Juvenile Detention Center. Both are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police are asking anyone who has been contacted by a woman named “Juliette Parker”, “Juliette Noel” or “Juliette Gains” while posing as a photographer and believe they could be a victim to contact their department.
