The Pennsylvania Senate race between Republican candidate Dr. Mahmet Oz and Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman remained too close to call as of midnight eastern time.
With 84% of the vote counted, Fetterman was holding onto a slight lead with 49.2% compared to 48.3% for Dr. Oz, according to NBC News.
Officials said it could take several days to count all the ballots in the hotly contested race.
“Election officials in all 67 counties are well aware that the eyes of the nation are on the Keystone State tonight,” said Pennsylvania’s acting secretary of state, Leigh M. Chapman. “And they are counting as fast as they can. But they are also prioritizing accuracy over speed, as they should.”
In the race for governor, state Attorney General Josh Shapiro defeated his Republican opponent Doug Mastriano.
