Jenna Ellis, a former campaign lawyer for former President Donald Trump, reached a plea deal with Georgia prosecutors in the sprawling election subversion case.
Ellis agreed to plead guilty to one count of aiding and abetting false statements and will have to cooperate with prosecutors in the upcoming RICO trial against Trump and the remaining 14 co-defendants.
As part of the deal, prosecutors are recommended five years of probation and $5,000 in restitution for Ellis. She will also be barred from posting anything about the case or the co-defendants on social media.
During the hearing, Ellis fought back tears as she spoke to the court and apologized for her actions.
"If I knew then what I knew now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-challenges. I look back on this experience with deep remorse," Ellis said.
"I failed to do my due diligence," she added.
Last week, former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell and lawyer Kenneth Chesebro reached plea deals with prosecutors. Scott Hall also worked out a plea agreement to avoid trial.
