What to Watch on the 4th of July 2024: PBS A Capitol Fourth, Fireworks, National Hot Dog Eating Contest & more!

It's the Fourth of July! Independence Day is here and while for many that means barbecue's or beach trips, others just want a nice day to relax and rest at home. I've got you covered my little couch potato. Here is what to watch on the 4th of July 2024!

8:00am Books That Shaped America (C-SPAN2)

This C-SPAN series begins at 8am on July 4th, highlighting some of the fiction and non-fiction books that shaped America including "Common Sense", "The Common Law" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn".

10:45am Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest (ESPN / ESPN 2 / ESPN 3)


For the 21st year, ESPN will air the world famous, hot dog eating contest live from Coney Island in New York. The Women's Competition will begin at 10:45am on ESPN 3 while the Men's Competition will begin at 12pm on ESPN 2 and re-airing on ESPN at 5pm.

5:00p The Office Marathon (Comedy Central)

Everyone's favorite faux documentary, office based comedy series is airing back to back episodes as Comedy Central holds a The Office marathon.

Alfonso Ribeiro returns to host the ultimate annual Independence Day celebration. Live from the West Lawn of the US Capitol, A Capitol Fourth will feature a non-stop party with performances by Smokey Robinson, Darren Criss, Sheila E., Sister Sledge & Sledgendary, Fantasia, Fitz & Noelle from Fitz and The Tantrums, Loren Allred, Chloe Flower, Shawn Johnson East, the National Symphony Orchestra, numerous tributes to our military and veterans, and the best fireworks display on Earth.

There's so many great options this year to keep you entertained, so whether you're too hot or just want a quiet Fourth of July at home, there's plenty to keep you entertained and feeling patriotic!
