New York Jets owner Woody Johnson seemed to defend first-year head coach Aaron Glenn while hinting at a preferred quarterback change on Tuesday (October 21) during the NFL fall meeting in New York via ESPN.

Johnson said the decision was "completely up to" Glenn, who sources reported was leaning toward benching incumbent starter Justin Fields for backup Tyrod Taylor and praised the head coach for "turning around parts" of the team.

"It's hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that he's got. I mean, he has ability, but something just is not jiving. ... You have to play consistently at that position, and that's what we're going to try to do for the remainder of the season," he said.

Johnson credited Glenn, who had previously worked as the Detroit Lions' defensive coordinator, for improvements on defense and special teams.

"If we can just complete a pass, it would look good," Johnson said, once again addressing struggles within the passing attack.

Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million contract to join the Jets this past offseason, has thrown for 845 yards and four touchdowns on 86 of 135 passing, while also recording 257 yards and three touchdowns on 42 rushing attempts, with the Jets winless in all of Fields' six starts, as well as one game started by Taylor in his absence due to a concussion.

The Jets will face the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) on Sunday (October 26) at Paycor Stadium.
