2026 NFL Draft: Alessandrini's First Round Mock and Top 50

We are officially back! It’s the day of the 2026 NFL Draft, and the city of Pittsburgh holds the honor of this year’s host city. The last time the Steel City hosted the NFL Draft was back in December of 1947, at the Fort Pitt Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh ahead of the 1948 season. The draft lasted 32 rounds between 10 teams and was mainly conducted as a “business meeting.” Times have certainly changed, as in 2026, an estimated 500-800,000 people will make their way around the north shore of Acrisure Stadium to take in this year’s selections.

No draft is predictable, but some years are more predictable than others. The 2024 class comes to mind with the top three picks, all Quarterbacks, going to quarterback-needy teams, followed by the class's #1 receiver in Marvin Harrison Jr and #1 Tackle in Joe Alt. Teams with desperate needs for important NFL Franchise positions, but this year could be different. Last year had a few shakeups, and I expect this year to be even more surprising and unpredictable.

The theme for the 2026 NFL Draft is to throw out positional value, a thing that can typically separate players when determining how high they should be taken. This year, the top players after the top pick, Quarterback Fernando Mendoza out of Indiana, are a Running Back, Off-Ball Linebackers with rushing potential, and a safety. This should make for a very fun and interesting night, especially with the pick times being reduced from 10 minutes to 8 minutes for the first time.

Rumors are also swirling of many teams looking to trade back all over the first round, with only about 15-20 actual players with first-round grades, depending on who you talk to. That makes picks in the range of 21-50 very exciting and a chance to be unpredictable. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” is what I have heard about teams selecting in that range this year. Will the Cowboys trade up? Will Arizona actually take Jeremiyah Love at #3? When does Jordyn Tyson come off the board? Here is my final 2026 NFL mock draft with limited trades and the last Top 50 on the big board. Enjoy!

Pick 1: Las Vegas Raiders

Fernando Mendoza- QB Indiana (6’5- 236 lbs)

Mendoza worked his way up draft boards after an undefeated season at Indiana, where he passed for 3,535 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions on 72% completion. He also ran for 276 yards and 7 rushing touchdowns, showing he could also use his legs to move the chains. Mendoza is an elite back-shoulder thrower and has very good zip on his ball. He is a quick decision-maker with accuracy as his superpower. He has enough arm strength for it to be a worry at the next level and has the mental makeup to be great. It will take him some time to learn a new system, as it does all young quarterbacks, but it shouldn't be too long before Mendoza makes an impact for his role model, Tom Brady, in Las Vegas.

Pick 2: New York Jets

David Bailey- Edge Texas Tech (6’3- 250 lbs)

The draft starts here. David Bailey transferred into Texas Tech this past season after playing 3 years and graduating early from Stanford. He showed flashes during his time at Stanford and upped his stats each season, finishing his last year with 7 sacks. He improved even more at Texas Tech, a defense that had a lot of other pieces, but he was the catalyst. Bailey was a unanimous All-American this season, with insane production, finishing with 52 tackles, 23 TFL, and 14.5 sacks while being second in pressure rate. He is the most polished and ready now pass rusher in the class. Bailey has elite first-step speed and explosiveness paired with good length. He secured himself a top pick with his 4.5 forty at the combine in March. He may even leave the Draft Thursday night with a sack somehow.

Pick 3: Arizona Cardinals

Arvell Reese- Linebacker/ Edge Ohio State (6’4- 241 lbs)

Things get very interesting here at #3 and could depend on what the Jets do at #2. I just find it hard to believe that a team missing so many pieces on both sides of the ball can take a running back here. Jeremiyah Love could very well be the best player in this year’s draft, but we have seen this movie before. Look at Saquon Barkley and his time with the Giants. If the Cardinals make this pick, after allocating money and resources this offseason in the running back room with the signing of Tyler Allgeier, I would be surprised, but remember what I said in the intro about positional value out the window. Arizona is looking and looking to trade back, so I think we could see some movement here, but if they stay put at #3, they have to go Reese. His ceiling is too high after what we saw him do as a young player this last season. The issue is that he can be viewed as a top-tier pass rusher with the traits he possesses, but he wasn't used as much that way at Ohio State under Matt Patricia. Reese has size, speed, length, and power. Really good at using his arms to gain leverage and shed blockers, and finishes strong through tackles. He is an X Factor-type player, but he is a projection. His 6.5 sacks last year in just over 90 rushes were elite and show what he could be as a hybrid at the next level.

.

Pick 4: Tennessee Titans

Jeremiyah Love- Running Back Notre Dame (6’0- 212 lbs)

So, after all I said about Arizona and how Love might not be the best option for a team not ready to win now, I have him going here to the Titans. And yes, Tennessee does need some help all around. But with where they are currently, I think this makes sense. Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears have been serviceable, but not a needle mover, and the two have dealt with injuries. Cam Ward is going into year 2, a big year for young quarterbacks, and what better way to help him take the second-year leap than to get him the best weapon in the class in Jeremiyah Love. My #2 prospect and a difference maker, similar to Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs. Love has breakaway speed, can make people miss (see spin move highlights), and is a phenomenal pass catcher you can line up anywhere. He even ran wide receiver drills at the combine in Indy. Love will have an immediate impact wherever he lands. Rumors here for Tennessee with new defensive-minded head coach Robert Saleh suggest they might also want a top defensive player here. There have been links to Sonny Styles or Bailey/Reese if one were to slip. I would guess one of the latter if Love ends up going #3 to the Cardinals

Pick 5: New York Giants

Jordyn Tyson- WR Arizona State (6’2- 203 lbs)

The Giants made headlines last week after trading star Defensive Tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals for the 10th overall pick in this year's draft. New coach John Harbaugh will now have two picks in the top 10 to impact his culture and squad in his first season in New York. I have struggled with this one in recent days, but now, after locking up another top 10 pick, I feel more comfortable with the Giants taking a shot on a guy with major upside who they love in Jordyn Tyson. Tyson has been one of my toughest evaluations this season. The 2024 tape is stellar, as he accumulated 75 catches for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2025, Tyson was banged up with a hamstring injury and only played in 9 games, finishing with 711 yards and 8 touchdowns. When you watch him, he just moves differently from other guys. So fluid, athletic, and explosive. He reduces his drops every season and can be versatile where you line him up. Now, the reason he's the most polarizing prospect in the class is the injuries. Started back in 2022 in Colorado when he tore his MCL, ACL, and PCL, sidelining him into 2023. Then, in 2024, he broke his collarbone, ending the second half of his season and any chance at appearing in the College Football Playoff. Last season, it was the hamstring injury that held him out of 3 games this season. In total, Tyson has missed 34% of his team's games, but the upside is there. When you watch him the talent is clear, but can he stay healthy? It does worry me, but I have come around after watching the tape on repeat in recent weeks.

Pick 6: Cleveland Browns

Francis Mauigoa- Tackle Miami (6’6- 329 lbs)

Cleveland is also a team willing to move back, given their need for Offensive line and the depth of the position in this year's class, especially round 1. With Cleveland picking twice in the first round at 6 and 24, I'm hearing they hope to leave with a wide receiver and an offensive lineman with those two picks. With this pick, they could go Carnell Tate, but I will have them getting the tackle first here in Miami’s Francis “CC” Mauigoa. Mauigoa was a consensus All-American last season at Miami for a team that went to the National Championship. He started in every game during his three seasons and has a wide body and strong hands. He is balanced and a mauler in the run game. Like other tackles in this class, he has the versatility to play inside at guard or outside at tackle. A report earlier this week detailed that Mauigoa is dealing with a herniated disc in his back and that it could possibly derail his rookie season. A report I did not like to hear about an offensive tackle the week of the draft, but teams are saying it won't affect his stock. Will that be the case, though, with multiple potential offensive linemen in this first round? Would not shock me if they took Utah’s Spencer Fano or Georgia’s Monroe Freeling here as well.

Pick 7: Washington Commanders

Carnell Tate- Wide Receiver Ohio State (6’2- 192 lbs)

Washington is looking for a rebound following a tough 2025 season riddled with injuries, including multiple injuries to star quarterback Jayden Daniels. How cann they rebound in 26? In my opinion, it's getting Daniels another weapon and no one better here than Carnell Tate from Ohio State. That wide receiver room already has some Buckeye flair with Terry McLaurin, and with Tate and Scary Terry healthy, the offense could be dangerous once again, like we saw back in 2025. Tate was excellent down the field and rarely ever dropped a pass. He averaged 17 yards per reception and won every 50/50 ball. But Dan Quinn is a defensive guy, and there are rumors he is a big fan of Ohio State’s Sonny Styles. This is a rare mock with Styles available here, so where will Washington go tonight?

Pick 8: New Orleans Saints

Caleb Downs- Safety Ohio State (6’0- 206 lbs)

Downs has been on NFL’s team’s radar since his freshman season at Alabama, when he led the defense in tackles under Nick Saban. He is a face of the franchise type player from the moment he walks into the building, according to OSU defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. Downs is very versatile, can work anywhere on the field, and is stellar coming up and making plays in the run game. One of the smartest guys on the field, a true FOOTBALL PLAYER, and one who could wear the green dot for a defense early in his career. Brandon Staley, now leading the defense, could find the Derwin James he had in LA.

Pick 9: Kansas City Chiefs

Mansoor Delane- Cornerback LSU (6’0- 187 lbs)

I initially had the Chiefs taking a tackle here in Mock 1.0, but I have shifted for the final prediction. Kansas City also has another pick in the first round after the Trey McDuffie trade with the Rams. That trade did two things, gave them another pick in round 1 and left a huge need at corner after also losing Jaylen Watson to LA in free agency. Delane is a sticky corner who was great in the SEC after transferring over from Virginia Tech. Effective in both zone coverage, Delane allowed just 10 catches last season and had 2 picks. Fluid movement, can press at the line, and with strong ball skills, could be a great replacement for McDuffie in Kansas City. He silenced the speed questions with the 4.38 forty.

Pick 10: New York Giants

Sonny Styles- Linebacker Ohio State (6’4- 244 lbs)

This would be a surprise, and maybe I am the only one with him slipping based on a little hesitancy on what Styles could be at the next level. To be clear, my concerns are not with the talent but where to use him. He can rush, but is best used as an off-ball linebacker after coming over from safety following his 2023 season at Ohio State. Can you use a Top 10 pick on a linebacker like that? Well, in Styles case, I say yes, even if I think he could slip to 10 here. A dream scenario for John Harbaugh, who gets his wide receiver first and now his culture setter on defense with Styles. A player teams love so much that he got a standing ovation during an interview at the combine and maybe has the best character in the draft. Did I mention he had one of the best combine performances we have ever seen.

Pick 11: Miami Dolphins

Rueben Bain Jr- Edge Miami (6’2- 263 lbs)

Reuben Bain Jr has had a lot of talk throughout the draft process due to his arms lacking the length you typically see out of successful edge rushers (Under 31 inches). But when you put on the tape, he is undeniable and stays close to home in this mock. He has excellent strength and power off the edge and made play after play in the College Football Playoff. He will give you 100% effort on every snap and has produced since his Freshman year. Not going to beat you with speed, but can follow the flow of the play and make plays in the run game. He was also coached by former Miami Dolphin star pass rusher Jason Taylor during his time with the Hurricanes.

Pick 12: Dallas Cowboys

Dillon Thieneman- Safety Oregon (6’0- 201 lbs)

This becomes very tough for Dallas here with all of those top defenders off the board. They have also been linked to Jordyn Tyson, but all are gone in this scenario. So what do they do? First thought is maybe to trade back, but if they can’t, they still need defense, and I think it could be the safety from Oregon, Dillon Thieneman. Some might think this is early, but I’m higher on the versatile safety who had 8 interceptions in his career, and 2 of them were game-sealing plays. High football IQ, ball hawk, and 4.35 speed make him a big time playmaker on the backend.

Pick 13: Los Angeles Rams

Makai Lemon- Wide Receiver USC (5’11- 192 lbs)

Wide Receiver has been mocked to the Rams for months now. Davante Adams is getting older, and LA even tried to move on this off-season, engaging with the Eagles in trade talks for the 6-time Pro Bowler. But the Rams have been historically good at finding receivers on day 2 or the later rounds (Puka 5th, Kupp 3rd). Here, it's between two guys for me, Makai Lemon or Spencer Fano. If they stay put, I think it's Lemon from USC who will get to stay home in California. Lemon lacks size but is quick, sure-handed, and a “dawg” on the field. He was hard to bring down after the catch and operates silky smooth out of the slot. He loves to get physical and block in the run game and has no fear to go across the middle of the field. Late rumors have the Rams eyeing Jeremiyah Love on a move up, and if that happens, sparks will fly Thursday night.

Pick 14: Baltimore Ravens

Olaivavega Ioane- Guard Penn State (6’4- 320 lbs)

This is a perfect fit for the Ravens following the departure of star center Tyler Linderbaum to Las Vegas in free agency. Baltimore needs help on the interior of the offensive line, and Ioane is a plug-and-play starter at the position from Day 1. Ioane has a quick first step and is violent in his blocking. Gave up just two sacks in career in 32 starts, and both came back in 2023.

Pick 15: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Akheem Mesidor- Edge Miami (6’3- 259 lbs)

Tampa Bay needs big-time help on the edge, but could they go offense here? There have been links to Kenyon Sadiq, the weapon from Oregon, but here in this mock, I go with a pass rusher from Miami. Akheem Mesidor was great for the Hurricanes last season. He finished with 17.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, and 58 pressures. Mesidor is also versatile, with elite production, and when rushing inside on the interior. If Mesidor wasn't 25 years old, he might go earlier, but with the Bucs in win-now mode, this pick makes sense.

Pick 16: New York Jets

Omar Cooper Jr- Wide Receiver Indiana (6’0- 199 lbs)

Omar Cooper is coming off a national championship run with Indiana and quarterback Fernando Mendoza, where he finished with 937 yards and 13 touchdowns. Cooper repeatedly made big, clutch plays when the team needed him (see game winner vs PSU). He will play out of the slot in NY with Garrett Wilson on the outside. Cooper has a very strong lower body and can break tackles in the open field and pick up yards after the catch. Speedier than you think, running a 4.42 forty.

Pick 17: Detroit Lions

Monroe Freeling- Tackle Georgia (6’7- 315 lbs)

What a dream for coach Dan Campbell in this scenario for a team that has now lost Taylor Decker and Frank Ragnow on the offensive line in recent years. I can see the run on offensive line beginning here or even earlier with a trade, but now the Lions can choose between two of my favorites in Spencer Fano and Monroe Freeling. Maybe the Lions even like Kadyn Proctor from Alabama, but O-line is the pick here, and I will go with Freeling from Georgia. Freeling is young and has just a year and a half of starter experience, but Freeling is 6'7 ", 315 lbs, with tons of great traits. He has the arm length, quickness, and gets out to the next level. He committed just 1 penalty in 18 starts, and not to mention, he already played left tackle at Georgia, and if Detroit decides to keep Penei Sewell at right tackle, they could with this pick.

Pick 18: Minnesota Vikings

Kenyon Sadiq- Tight End/ Weapon Oregon (6’3- 241 lbs)

Sadiq has been one of my toughest evaluations. He has remarkable speed and athleticism, but lacks the height and size of a typical tight end in the NFL. When you watch him, he can't help but stand out. Sadiq ran a 4.39 forty and had 8 touchdowns this past season. He is a pretty good route runner and can be moved all over the offense, most likely as an H-back or in the slot. Willing blocker with his size and strength. Size scares me a bit because we haven't seen anything like him, but he is one of the most gifted players in the class. Links to Tampa Bay and Carolina as well.

Pick 19: Carolina Panthers

Kadyn Proctor- Tackle Alabama (6’7- 352 lbs)

Carolina now has some uncertainty upfront with tackle Ickey Ekwonu rehabbing from a torn patellar tendon. Here, they can grab some depth for the offensive line with one of the biggest freaks in the class with Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor. Proctor was a top recruit out of high school with remarkable size and athleticism. He led all Alabama Players in snaps played and earned both All-American honors and the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the top blocker in the SEC. Proctor even caught a Touchdown pass on a screen pass on the outside against Georgia. Consistency is the biggest issue for Proctor, as you can look back to the season opener vs FSU, where he allowed 7 pressures and a sack. He did look better as the season progressed, but I think the landing spot will be huge for Proctor at the next level.

Pick 20: Dallas Cowboys Trade with Kansas City Chiefs for Pick #29 and #109

Spencer Fano- Tackle Utah (6’6- 311 lbs)

Everyone thinks the Cowboys will move up, but I think there is just as much of a chance for them to move down in this range, especially with some of those defenders off the board. Kansas City wants an offensive lineman, and they get their guy here. I do think it will be tough for Fano to slip this far, but if he does, Andy Reid will pounce. Reid and former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham were teammates back at BYU and remain very close friends. Fano was one of the best players and captains for the Utes. Started at Left Tackle as a freshman before moving to right tackle. Fano had four uncles and a cousin play in the NFL. Fano, the Big 12 Lineman of the Year, is so light on his feet, fluid, and can block at the next level. Had 13 pressures and just 1 sack allowed in the past two seasons, and you ran behind #55 if you needed a yard at Utah last season.

Pick 21: Pittsburgh Steelers

Blake Miller- Tackle Clemson (6’7- 317lbs)

The offensive line has begun and continues with the Steelers here at #21. Recent reports suggest Broderick Jones had a setback with the neck injury from last season, and the Steelers add depth here on the O-line with Blake Miller from Clemson. Miller started from the moment he stepped on campus and is a model of consistency. 2 sacks in 13 starts last season for Clemson and has great size, length, and wingspan (84 in).

Pick 22: Los Angeles Chargers

Kayden McDonald- DT Ohio State (6’2- 326 lbs)

The 5th Buckeye goes in the first round, with McDonald going to the Chargers. McDonald had a great season for Ohio State, plugging up the middle and getting after the passer with three sacks and nine pressures on 223 pass-rush snaps while posting 67 tackles and 17 run stops. A player I have ranked a bit higher than others.

Pick 23: Philadelphia Eagles

Max Iheanachor- Tackle Arizona State (6’6, 321 lbs)

I will be surprised if the Eagles stay put here at #23. We have heard from Delaware Online’s Martin Frank that they are looking to move up, so we will see if they can do it. But if they can’t, they add to the offensive line to build the depth they need after dealing with injuries last season and the possibility of this being Lane Johnson’s last year. The pick is Max Iheanachor from ASU, another late riser. Iheanachor just started playing football just 4 years ago. He started 31 games over the last 3 seasons but is still improving. He is big, with a 4.91 forty and 25 reps on the bench. More raw than others buyt has the traits to be a very good starter if developed.

Pick 24: Cleveland Browns

Denzel Boston- WR Washington (6’4- 212 lbs)

Browns went offensive line with their first pick which now leaves a wide receiver with their second pick at #24 with Denzel Boston still available. Boston has great size at 6-4, 212 pounds. He was big force in the redzone with 14 of his 20 touchdowns coming in the red area. Good route runner that can wall off defenders with his size like a basketball player. Only 3.1% drop rate as well in 2 years at Washington.

Pick 25: Chicago Bears

Keldric Faulk- Edge Auburn (6’6- 276 lbs)

Bears will go in the trenches in my opinion, the question just becomes offense or defense? Here we will go with a edge rusher to help out the defense in Auburn’s Keldric Faulk. Faulk has first step quickness and tenacity and excelled as a run defender for the Tigers. He can set the edge and make plays in Dennis Allen scheme and even had 7 sacks in 2024 but just 2 last season so room for improvement in that area. Look for Faulk, Zion Young, Mason Thomas or tackle maybe in Caleb Lomu from Utah.

Pick 26: Buffalo Bills trade with Arizona Cardinals- pick #34 and future pick

Ty Simpson- Quarterback Alabama (6’1- 211 lbs)

This was my first trade up scenario in mock 1.0, with the Cardinals trading up for Quarterback Ty Simpson from Alabama and I will stick with it here. To me, its either with Buffalo here at #26 or Seattle at #32 who is willing to move down. The Cardinals really love Simpson and have met with him in recent weeks.Buffalo doesnt have a second round pick after the DJ Moore trade and could pickup a few more here. Simpson jumped onto the scene early last season with flashed for Alabama but had some struggles and turnovers down the stretch. Only started 15 games but has great accuracy, poise and instincts. The 2nd Quarterback in the class by a decent margin.

Pick 27: San Francisco 49ers

Caleb Lomu- Tackle Utah (6’6- 313 lbs)

I can definitely see Lomu going earlier, but here he falls to the 49ers, a team with needs upfront, even after resigning Trent Williams to the 2 year extension. Lomu slotted right into Left Tackle with Fano moving over to right tackle. 0 sacks allowed in 12 starts this season. Above-average quickness and durability, Lomu still has a lof of room for development, still being young.

Pick 28: Houston Texans

Peter Woods- DT Clemson (6’3- 298 lbs)

Peter Woods has tremendous upside. After his 2024 season at Clemson, he was a top 10 prospect coming into the year, but didn't live up to expectations (Like every other Clemson player) this season. If he can get back to what we saw in 2024, it could be a steal for Houston which needs help on the interior of the defense. Woods is very quick and strong and saw a lot of double teams in 2025 due to his reputation. Sacks were hard to come by last season, and that has teams questioning upside.

Pick 29: Dallas Cowboys from KC

Malachi Lawrence- Edge Central Florida (6’4- 263 lbs)

Lawrence has been linked to the Cowboys in recent days, and they could certainly use a pass rusher like him on the edge. Lawrence tallied 19.5 sacks in his 3 seasons and had 11 tackles for loss last year for the Golden Knights. Great speed and bend off the edge. He is like a predator catching prey when he has someone in his sights. Rarely lets them get away.

Pick 30: Miami Dolphins

Jermod McCoy- Cornerback Tennessee (6’1 188 lbs)

The Dolphins, with Denver's pick after the Waddle trade, can still get one of the best players in the draft in Jermod McCoy, and had he been healthy, a potential top 10 pick. McCoy had a stellar 2024 season at Tennessee, where he was the best corner in the country. He had 13 PBU’s and 4 interceptions as a sophomore, but teams are worried about the future of the knee and if it will require more attention going forward. During the process, McCoy seemed to show his health, running a 4.38 40-yard dash at his pro day.

Pick 31: New England Patriots

Zion Young- Edge Missouri (6’6- 262 lbs)

Patriots could use some help on the offensive line after what happened to Drake Maye down the stretch of last season, but many are off the board here. Another area, even more important, could be pass rusher. The Patriots generated only 35 sacks last season (tied for 22nd in the NFL). Here, they get better off the edge with Zion Young from Missouri. Young had 6.5 sacks and 46 pressures last season, rushing from both sides. 58 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 46 pressures, 16 run stops, two forced fumbles in 13 games

Pick 32: Seattle Seahawks

Jadarian Price- Running Back Notre Dame (5’10- 208 lbs)

It’s rare for the top 2 backs in a draft class to be from the same team, but that's what we have here with Jadarian Price. Price was great with the ball in his hands, averaging 6 yards per carry last season. Shows impressive acceleration in space, with open-field vision, and can be an impact returner — three touchdowns and 36.1 yards per return (22 attempts, 794 yards). Price did not start a single game, was not used as a pass catcher, and had some fumbling issues, but the talent as a ball carrier is undeniable. By far the second-best back in a class that lacks talent at the position.
