White House Chief of Staff John Kelly became emotional during his response to a congresswoman’s characterization of remarks between President Donald Trump and an Army widow.
Kelly defended Trump against Rep. Frederica Wilson, who reportedly listened in on a confidential phone call between the president and the widow of an American soldier killed in Niger and then talked about it to the press.

Kelly slammed Wilson as an example of our society’s scorn for the things that truly matter.
“I just thought the selfless devotion that brings a man or a woman to die on the battlefield … that might be sacred,” Kelly said.
